Getting more… It’s sold but…

Getting more…out of it

Assuming you’re already member of the local restaurant association, you’ve made the first step in creating a valuable resource for your business. But unless you can use that tool effectively it can’t contribute all that much to your growth and might just be another waste of time.

To accomplish that more positive outcome and to fully utilize that resource you need to do something more than belong. That’s to become an active member of the association. That might mean running for one the groups’ offices, participating in a committee, or perhaps volunteering to put on a sanitation clinic or some other topic that you’re proficient at and that’s of possible interest to some of the members.

By taking on that more active role you’ll meet more members who might just need what you can deliver. You’ll also be establishing your bonafides as a serious player who can solve problems that some of those members might just be dealing with. And very importantly by taking on that active role you’ll be fostering an environment where the typical “buyer – seller” dynamic is altered to one of equals. And that can really pay big dividends.

Anyway, what else do you have to do with that once-a-month weekday night that might be of more benefit to your prosperity?

It’s sold but…we aren’t done

When we do that install, we do a lot more than drill some holes and attach a few wires and fittings. It’s a big job that done right will lessen our service work in the months and years to come. It’s also the time when short cuts can do just the opposite. But that very tangible aside, there’s a critical intangible: It’s what the customer sees when it’s all finished.

If it’s a Hodge podge of loosely strung wires, instead of being secured neatly, or run through  conduit that’s not all that impressive. And if rather than seeing nice new wall charts neatly nicely hung, they see the old ones left by your predecessor, that’s not going to do much to reinforce the choice that they made.

Then there’s what he can’t see, but than can make a huge difference in results and costs. Like those new (or just cleaned) rinse jets that were delivering more of a pencil stream versus a fan spray. Or the thermostat that you tweaked to banish the food specks, or the straightened scrap trays that will eliminate the wash tank food soil buildup problem.

Yep, a professional install will go a long way toward reminding him exactly why he chose to do business with you. And when that’s done, so are we – but not before.
