Merry Christmas – Soapy 2017
Merry Christmas…
The last year saw a lot of change in Old Soapy’s life. As he’d promised the wife, he had indeed – well at least partially – hung up his titration kit and had begun to enjoy the fruits of more than forty years in the business. Four decades that had seen him move from absolute greenhorn working for a big chemical marketer to his eventual plunge into entrepreneurship with his own operation. A business that today employed a group of folks whose experience range spanned the same one he’d lived through.
Another change that came with his now semi -retired state was that his holiday shopping work was actually finished well before the holidays. Yep, the days of the mid December to Christmas rush that had ordered his life for years was largely now others to handle. That respite gave our boy time to ponder…
And when he did, it occurred to him that a lot of folks had done a lot over those years to help make his life what it had become. That included a number of old and loyal customers who were still with him, as well as the great folks with whom he’d he worked. All of them had been a big part of the businesses’ success. But how to thank them?
That’s when our boy saw the local food drive ad and realized that he could do something in their names that could make a big difference to a lot of folks in need . His donation in all their names was a small gesture, but it was one that at least in part recognized all they’d done. His handwritten note to each of them was the best way he could think of to express what was a feeling of gratitude-… one that spanned all those forty years.
